CSA.304 Transformer Oil Corrosive Sulphur Analyzer

The CSA.304 Transformer Oil Corrosive Sulphur Analyser is designed in accordance with SH/T0304-1999Electrical Insulating Oil Corrosive Sulphur Test Method – and supports analysis per ASTM D1275-15.

It is used for qualitative determination of corrosive sulphur in transformer oil by detecting both free sulphur and corrosive sulphur impurities. These contaminants can cause significant damage when transformer oil contacts copper or other reactive metals.

The CSA.304 ensures reliable classification of transformer oil quality by replicating corrosive conditions and comparing results against copper strip corrosion standards.

  • Sulphur content detection

  • Classification of oils as corrosive or non-corrosive in compliance with GB/T 5096 standards

Oil Classification Reference

  • Corrosive: Specimen shows black, dark brown, graphite-like, lacquered black, or exfoliated appearance

  • Non-Corrosive: Specimen shows orange, red, purple, blue, multi-colour patterns (e.g., red/green "Blue Peacock"), brass or gold shades, but no greying

  • Non-corrosive: Equivalent to Grades 1–3 in GB/T 5096

  • Corrosive: Equivalent to Grade 4 in GB/T 5096

Note: For improved accuracy, classification can be confirmed using an imported copper corrosion standard colour card.
