SG32.2000SMT Portable High Voltage Surge Generator System

The SG32.2000SMT is a portable, outdoor-ready surge generator system for high-voltage cable fault location, designed with rugged construction (IP43) and easy maneuverability via four-wheel transport. It delivers DC testing, surging, and burning up to 32 kV, with 2048 J surge energy and a working power of 2000 VA. Featuring a simple “turn & click” jog dial interface, advanced pre-location methods, and integrated safety monitoring circuits, the SG32.2000SMT ensures precise, safe, and reliable cable fault diagnostics in the field.

Key Features

  • Portable, outdoor-ready design (IP43), four-wheel system

  • Easy-to-use single rotary knob interface

  • Surge/Thump energy: 2048 J

  • DC testing / surging / burning: up to 32 kV

  • Working power: 2000 VA

  • Built-in safety: Earth connection monitoring (F-Ohm) & touch potential monitoring (F-Voltage)

  • Pre-location methods:

    • ARC Multi-shot (Arc Reflection Method)

    • ICE / Surge Pulse Method

    • DECAY Method

    • IFL (Intermittent Fault Locating)

  • 10.1-inch full-color TFT touchscreen with 1024×600 resolution (280 nit brightness, sunlight readable)

  • Embedded system with automatic waveform analysis and distance display

  • Automatic range setting, waveform capture & storage (>8,000 LV/HV records, >250 multi-pulse records)

  • USB connectivity for waveform file export & PC software analysis

Pre-Location Methods

  • ARC Multi-shot (ARM): Compares low-voltage reference trace with high-voltage fault trace; up to 8 comparative measurements per shot for automatic fault evaluation.

  • ICE / Surge Pulse: Measures travelling wave current component after fault ignition; ideal for long cables & PILC cables.

  • DECAY: Measures travelling wave voltage component after HV ignition; suited for very long HV transmission cables & high breakdown faults.

  • IFL (Intermittent Fault Locating): Finds temporary/intermittent faults, e.g., in street lighting systems.
