CFL SIMF Surge Impulse Generator & Fault Locator

The CFL SIMF is a combined surge impulse generator and prelocator used for locating high-resistance faults in underground power and communication cables. It integrates TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) and Surge Impulse (SIM/ICM) methods in one portable unit, enabling both distance measurement and pinpointing. The system is designed for field engineers requiring a complete fault detection solution in a compact, durable form.

Key Features

  • Combines prelocation and impulse generation in one system

  • Supports TDR, SIM, and ICM methods

  • Measurement range up to 32 km with ±0.1% accuracy

  • High surge energy for prelocation and burn-down testing

  • Automatic discharge and safety interlocks

  • Compatible with CFL PP3 pinpointing system

  • Compact, air-cooled design for field portability

  • Rugged construction for substation and service use
